Annual Sunflower Celebration

Whilst thirteen may be an unlucky number for some, 120 guests dressed to the nines in their casino charm enjoyed a night of all things good at the Annual Sunflower Celebration which took place on Friday 13th October at the Sea Cottage Room of the Greyville Convention Centre. Excitement and entertainment was the name of the game at this fundraising event themed ‘Cocktails, Canapes and Casino’.

New Steenberg wine trio harks back to 1795 Battle of Muizenberg

Steenberg Vineyards has launched a range of super-premium wines named after three tall ships in the Royal Navy fleet that defeated the Dutch in the Battle of Muizenberg in 1795. Setting sail for the first British occupation of the Cape of Good Hope, the Ruby, Stately and Sphynx were part of the fleet that advanced on Dutch strongholds in Muizenberg on 7 August. Skirmishes ensued as the Dutch retreated including clashes on the Steenberg foothills. It was a short-lived yet historically significant battle … celebrated by these three new wines.
