October Spoil

October Spoil

An afternoon of decadence.

Experience an afternoon of pure indulgence with a decadent array of sweet and savoury mini treats one would expect to find in the age-old tradition of an afternoon High Tea. The elaborate ritual, made popular by Anna, Duchess of Bedford in the Victorian era, was used as a delicious treat to bridge the gap between the two main meals of the day – lunch and dinner.

On local turf, few places offer a truly magical afternoon of delight like Hilton Durban in the hub of the city. The tranquil Coral Lounge where the High Tea is hosted offers a welcome escape from the buzz of the city outside with its comfy opulence. It is here that the mad, mad world fades and you can while the afternoon away indulging in some of the most delicate bite-sized sandwiches, melt-in-the-mouth sweet and savoury pastries, cakes, scones and tarts  prepared by the Coral Lounge’s talented pastry team.

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, baby shower, bridal shower or simply need an excuse to catch up with your besties, High Tea is the perfect experience for every occasion.

High Tea is served every Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 5pm and costs R270 a person. To book call 031 336 8100 or e-mail

Courtesy of Hilton Durban, we are giving away two High Tea experiences in the Coral Lounge on a Saturday of choice. Each experience is for four guests. To enter visit fill in the entry form before 29 October and hold thumbs.

Something new on your burger bun

Most of us love the idea of a burger, no matter what our food preference is, and burgers are certainly not for meat eaters alone. For those who are health conscious or don’t eat meat, why not add this Pouyoukas recipe of spicy lentil burgers to your burger night as an extra option.
