Life begins at 40

Most of us are moms, work full days and tend to have very little me time, let alone time to follow a suitable skin care routine. We went looking for some expert advice from the leaders in the beauty industry.

David from Sorbet shared the following:

We would definitely suggest the Age Affect & Salon Skin Ranges for women over 40. The Age Affect Cream Cleanser, the Salon Skin Micellar water as a toner and then the Age Affect Day and Night Cream

David is adamant that women 40 years and older still need to follow the golden rules of cleanse, tone and moisturise. “It doesn’t matter how old our skin is, it still needs to be cleansed, toned and moisturised twice a day. Serums are necessary for all skin conditions as they contain active ingredients to target specific concerns. The Sorbet Age Affect Power Serum contains Matrixyl Synthe 6™ which stimulates 6 major skin constituents in keeping the skin young, healthy and hydrated.

So, what should we have in our skin care arsenal? Well David’s advice is simple. “Definitely a cleanser, moisturiser and serum used twice daily. Exfoliation, using the Salon Skin Daily Polish Power followed by applying a Masque (Vitamin Rescue Masque) is recommended twice a week too.

If you are an over 40 and in need of some TLC,  Sorbet is giving one of our lucky readers a Sorbet Grande Facial. To enjoy this pamper send us a short motivating story to ……..

Anel Engelke, training manager at Futurethis offers these pearls of wisdom.

“After 40 the skin starts to show signs of aging.  No matter what your skin type or where you live, the effects of biological aging, lifestyle stressors and environmental impact starts to show.

After 35, collagen production (that contributes to roughly 70% of your skin volume) starts to slow down, the skin renews itself at a slower rate and moisturising processes are diminished.  The impact of oxidative stress caused by lifestyle and environment, leads to the acceleration of free radical damage on a cellular level and causes further damage that leads to sensitivity, dullness and age spots.

To keep your skin looking younger for longer and improve the health of the skin we suggest the following:

“Introduce a concentrated serum such as QMS collagen serums that are instantly effective in improving radiance, elasticity, plumping and firming.  Skin Tone Light is highly effective in reversing and preventing age spots that often appear after 40.

“Always use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection to protect the skin against the harmful effects and oxidative stress caused by the sun.  Cellular Sun Protection SPF50 is an effective anti-aging sunscreen that improves the skin’s immune system against the sun.

“Your 40s is when specialized products for areas such as the eyes, mouth and neck should be introduced.  Advanced Intensive Eyecare targets all concerns relating to aging around the eyes. Puffiness, dark circles are improved while at the same time tightening and lifting droopy top eye lids.   Lip Line Corrector plumps upper lip wrinkles and firms from the inside out while Neck & More is a luxurious cream that fights the effects of gravity that leads to sagging.

“Don’t forget to nourish and regenrate the skin from within with QMS unique hydrolyzed collagen, potent anti-oxidants and multivitaminsin Intravital Plus.
