For its inaugural performance at the Hilton Arts Festival, the Durban Symphonic Choir (DSC) will be presenting the Dvořák Mass in D, accompanied by acclaimed organist Chris Cockburn. Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841–1904) wrote the Mass in D in 1886. It is pure Dvorak, reflecting the composer’s humble faith, his natural humility in the face of a higher Order, and his true joy of life. It was described in 1904 as “a work of remarkable power and effect”.
