Located in the heart of Oribi Gorge and covering an impressive 2500 hectares with diverse ecosystems of bushveld, grassland, coastal forest and wetland, is Lake Eland Game Reserve, a natural landscape offering a place of peace and tranquility.

Just a 30-minute drive inland from Port Shepstone, on the South Coast (and about two hours from Durban),  it’s the perfect venue for day visitors, a family holiday, team building or a romantic getaway. With variety of activities for all ages, including self-game drives viewing abundant wildlife and flora, a breathtaking walk across an 80m suspension bridge, views of the beautiful Oribi Gorge from lookout points and bushman caves, there is no shortage of fun and adventure. Horse rides, walking and single track mountain bike trails, paint ball, fishing, picnic sites and 4×4 tracks are also available.

Lake Eland’s restaurant, situated close to the children’s playground, provides an indoor dining area as well as an outdoor deck and garden area, overlooking the Game Reserve, with a menu offering a simple yet diverse selection of flavours and dishes.

Pushing the boundaries when it comes to thrill seeking adventures, Lake Eland also boasts the Longest Zip Line Tour in Africa – a 4.5km, 14 zip line slide tour which soars across the magnificent Oribi Gorge. The longest zip line runs 680m across and 300m high above the Gorge. For fans of exhilarating downhill descents, they also have a 5km non-motorized Scooter Tour surrounded by the beauty of Lake Eland’s landscape and wildlife.

Here she learnt to cultivate her music and at the same time began a love affair with food that eventually led to the recent launch of her first cookbook, Cucina in South Africa.
