ENJOY SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC IN THE CITY AT SUNCOAST
For the month of June, Durbanites can rock to the sounds of the Remedy Project on Sunday, 10 June and step to the jazzy beats of the 5th Season on Sunday, 24 June.
Consisting of four musicians, lead singer & songwriter, Sheldon De St Pern, lead guitarist Greg van Scheper, bassist Garth Ross and drummer, Luke Allen. The Remedy Project have been together since 2014, writing, producing and covering music from various genres such as pop, rock, jazz, blues, reggae, afro pop, lounge, metal, techno and even some opera music.
“None of us can claim to fit into one genre and we are open to trying new sounds and all have very versatile tastes which reflect in our work. When we bring the sounds together, it’s what we feel in a moment and how we want our listeners to feel. I think growing up, we were all influenced by music from as early as the 50’s, all the way to now. If you have to box us, you could maybe say our genre could be ‘Melodic pop rock with flair’” says Sheldon.
The Remedy Project recently was chosen as one of the 6 finalists for “Be the Band” with East Coast Radio and Galleria Mall in 2017 and are through to the live recording stage for the marketing campaign at Gasoline Alley in Pinetown on the 5th of May 2018. Guests coming to their performance can look forward to “true entertainment, interaction, some cover songs to take you back in time, hits from then and now, some awesome originals to get your feet tapping, hands clapping, and all-round music to get your souls ready to dance” says Sheldon.
If you are looking for something more jazzy, then look forward to the performance of the 5th Season, a band formed in 2010, who play a wide range of well-known jazz standards, contemporary tunes as well as proudly South African Jazz favourites. The band have been hard at work recently releasing their latest single titled ‘Common Ground’ and announcing the launch of their second album titled ‘3 out of 4’, their first ever instrumental album, which is a follow up to their debut album ‘Symmetry’ in 2015.
“The month of June is truly set to be magical, thanks to the sounds of the Remedy Project and the 5th Season. So, do come and enjoy local music with friends and family” says SUNCOAST Marketing Manager, Louise Howell.
Sunday Beats are free, fun and suitable for the entire family. Performances by the Remedy Project (10 June) and the 5th Season (24 June) will start at 2pm at the SUNCOAST amphitheatre.
