More bubbly for mum
There’s the Vintage Rosé Cuvée Brut 2017 – mostly Pinot Noir, with a touch of Chardonnay, it’s a paradox of rich, berry fruit and refreshing, natural finesse. This pretty, salmon-pink bubbly is lovely with an old-fashioned, creamy prawn and avocado cocktail with spiced lime wedges, or Charcuterie board with parma ham and prosciutto. Around R145 per bottle. Closer to the first famous sparkling wines of France a century ago is the Krone Night Nectar Demi-Sec Rosé 2017. Also a blend of 85 per cent Pinot Noir and 15 per cent Chardonnay, this subtle salmon blush hued bubbly is lovely with grilled prawns, sticky pork belly, or strawberry cream cake. Yum.
