Eggceptional tips for a beautiful you

Eggceptional tips for a beautiful you

Can egg white really do wonders for your skin or is it just another beauty myth? According to our egg-centric expert lifestyle blogger and vlogger, Ruan Scheepers, the benefits are quite astonishing. Not only is egg white an all-natural remedy for treating acne, fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, it is also a fabulously frothy way of achieving a younger, more flawless-looking skin.

With his finger on the pulse of what’s hip and happening in and around South Africa, 34-year-old Ruan’s face and voice are difficult to miss in and around Durban. Currently the host of his own YouTube Channel, he is fast becoming one of the country’s most loved and switched on media personalities. Never missing the perfect opportunity to engage with a myriad of personalities across various industries, he is often under the spotlight, and so the pressure is naturally on him to look his best. It comes as no surprise then that one of his all-time favourite skincare heroes is of course, egg white.

“What makes egg white so good for your skin is that it is great for tightening and toning. It works wonders for greasy skin by shrinking large pores on the skin surface, thereby reducing excess sebum. Large pores are also potential breeding grounds for bacteria that cause zits and cysts, which means pore-tightening egg white can help reduce acne. Additionally, egg white contains an ingredient known as lysozyme, an enzyme that kills acne-causing bacteria by digesting their cell walls.”

Here are 10 reasons why you should consider using egg whites in your beauty regimen:

It removes facial hair

It tightens and shrinks large pores

It lifts skin

It’s great for reducing oily skin

It removes excess scalp oiliness

It fights off and prevents acne and acne scars

It brings a shine to dull hair

It helps get rid of blackheads

It reduces under eye puffiness

It helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines

“A huge fan of using egg white as part of a regular beauty regimen, I found this hydrating egg white facemask that is quick and easy to make, and works wonders for my skin because it contains potent ingredients including avocado (packed with numerous vitamins and healthy fats), which is perfect for hydrating and moisturizing your skin to make it supple, soft, and smooth. The egg white will also feed your skin with nourishing nutrients such as protein and riboflavin.”

Bespoke baby gear, designed with the supermom in mind!

When it comes to baby brands, there are so many great companies out there producing some incredible stuff. On an international level, we are of course envious of some of the adventurous, fun and fabulous products on the market (not all of which we can always get our hands on), so we simply cannot contain ourselves when every now and again we stumble across some equally great brands produced on our very own doorstep…

50 Shades of Pink

When it comes to wine, especially rosé, there are loads of guys who won’t touch it. Maybe it’s because they prefer a beer or a more refined spirit; maybe it’s because it comes in a stemmed glass, who knows?. What we can say though, based on the confessions of our local wine fundi, Jan-Nico Coetzee, is that even the tough guys have a palate for rose, and thanks to the bottled beauties listed below, we now know just why.
