Fashion trends designed for you
One of the die-hard trends that will never really go away. What is important here is that shapes and prints change as do the garments they find themselves on. For the beginning of the year, floral slip dresses as well as two-piece sets are a hit. Fast forward to the cooler months and you’ll be seeing a darker, moodier floral in the form of embroidery, digi prints and even in a painterly effect.
- The Blazer
Another item that won’t ever really get old, if you haven’t invested in a well-fitted blazer yet, now is the time because the spotlight is on this power item. Channelling the 80s, we’re loving the checked blazer, be it in gingham or heritage check. Think strong, power shoulders and slightly oversized shapes. If you have to, borrow from your grandfather’s closet. Trousers are an obvious pairing but for a true fashion take, try it with a mini-skirt a la the 1988 Working Girl film.
- The Trucker Jacket
For a more casual trend, the trucker is having a moment too. What makes this piece of outter wear so special is its oversized nature, almost as if you stole if from your boyfriend. Wear it with anything really, but also don’t be afraid to throw it over a sparkly dress for some high contrast. It will be sure to turn heads.
- The Mini Skirt
Also making a comeback is the mini skirt. Tuck in a logo tee or a pretty blouse and voila – effortless cool. Of course, denim is the go to option here, but as winter hits, switch to vinyl, velvet, suede or even corduroy.
There are some of us that aren’t too keen to show leg, in which case we are thankful the pleated skirt is going nowhere. The ease of movement of the pleated skirt is what makes this garment a keeper. Flattering in all forms, the mid-length skirt goes perfectly with this season’s kitten heel.
- The Mandarin Collared Shirt
A fresh take on the typical work shirt, the mandarin collar is a must have for the sophisticated guy who is looking to do something different and experiment with his daily uniform, without compromising on the polish of course.
- The Trucker Jacket
As with the girls, the trucker is as big for the guys. We love it paired with anything, even pushing the idea of denim on denim. Take it one step further by switching out the casual tee for a dress shirt.
- Investment Denim
For 2018, men will be looking to invest in denim, if they aren’t already. This means spending a little more for jeans that will only get better with age. Imagine a pair of trousers that, as they get older, mold your body better or its fabric gets more character. Quality is key.
Stripes for boys, in the form of tees or soft shirts. Layering a shirt underneath is one way to reinvent the look.
- The Long Line Tee
When it comes to tees, the updated long line tee is still cool. Last season it was paired with a pair of skinny trousers, this year, match it up with a pair of loose, but tailored cropped trousers and high top sneakers
