Bikers Rev it up in support of The Sunflower Fund
En route to the Shongweni Farmers and Craft Market, motorcycle and outdoor enthusiasts from across KZN donned their commemorative 2017 cloth badges and brightly coloured Sunflower TOPES. It was an inspirational sight as the biker convoy ascended Field’s Hill all in the name of a worthy cause.
Prize-giving was filled with excitement and revelry as bikers enjoyed brunch and craft beer, whilst several lucky winners walked away with fantastic prizes including a raffle hamper valued at R1700. DJ Martin van Tonder and Jeff Pharo of the well-known band, DV8, kept the crowd entertained. The trophy for the biggest club entry went to the Durban Harley Owners Group. PR & Event Specialist for The Sunflower Fund in Durban, Allison Ekstrand, shared a heartfelt speech on the good work of the organisation and thanked those in attendance.
Much-needed funds raised from the event will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness, and to educate and recruit more blood stem cell donors. The more donors on the Registry the more hope of life patients diagnosed with leukaemia have of finding their 1:100 000 donor match.
The Sunflower Fund would like to thank RBS Yamaha, KZNMF, MOTH Motorcycle Association, Durban Harley Owner’s Group, NPN Auto Centre Pinetown, Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market, Anna’s Glass Art, Embroider It @ Parklane, DJ Martin Vee, Jeff Pharo and all other associated sponsors and supporters.
