Lou Harvey opens three new stores in KZN

Local entrepreneur, Lou Harvey is sticking to her KwaZulu Natal roots, as she opens three new stores, extending her reach from Durban to Pietermaritzburg and Umhlanga. Her commitment to the region is palpable, as Lou opened her very first store in Durban – and her new stores mean that she has more shops in KwaZulu Natal than any other province.

The success of Lou’s business continues to grow, as the Midlands Mall in Pietermaritzburg is one of the largest retail stores in KZN. Her second store opening − and her first store in Umhlanga − is at the luxury boutique ‘Pearls Mall’, set in the the spectacular residential resort, Pearls of Umhlanga. And on Thursday, 28 September, the Lou Harvey store in Cornubia Shopping Mall opens.

Lou is known for her pretty, yet practical accessories, which run the gauntlet from totes to cooler bags, stationery to kids’ aprons and more. But although Lou’s work is loved around the globe − she exports to Singapore, the US, Australia and Mexico − a non-negotiable for her is to serve and support our local communities. As such, Lou insists on using an entirely local production team (close on 100 people) in all aspects of her business: from fabrics to employees… even her production line. So, go on… support local – it has never been so fabulous!

Its time to READ competition

A wise man once quipped: Creativity is contagious. Pass it on. Albert Einstein certainly knew what he was speaking about, and when it comes to encouraging creativity and imagination in our youth, just think of the untold treasure, waiting to be discovered!

Glad to go camping

The kids are on their mid-year hols and a camping weekend’s on the cards. Woo hoo.

How are you enjoying your Cadbury Breakaway?

Chocolate wrapped and filled wafer. On a chilly winter night, there’s really not much more we want than this, a mug of coffee and a good book.

Buon appetito!

With nothing but a suitcase full of dreams and her faithful friend ‘the cello’, Cecilia Di Cecco left Italy to work as a musician with the KZNPO in Durban. Here she learnt to cultivate her music and at the same time began a love affair with food that eventually led to the recent launch of her first cookbook, Cucina in South Africa.
