Top tips on how to prepare sirloin

Food Lovers Hillcrest owner, Gilbert Rocha together with butcher and chef, Gancho Petrov, have you covered for national Braai Day and Heritage Month with these expert tips on how to prepare their favourite cut of meat, aged sirloin.

First and foremost, make sure your fire is really hot and place your piece of meat at a 45 degree angle on the grid to get that great criss-cross finish.

To crisp up the fat on the edges, make sure it’s well seasoned with Himalayan Salt. Hold this up with braai tongs and cook first.

Always put a cut onion on the grid which infuses the meat and creates a subtle smoky taste.

For those who enjoy garlic, melt some butter and smear finely chopped garlic and paste generously over the steak

If you prefer to keep it simple but delicious, season well with Himalayan salt and black pepper and place on the braai
