Make your Limpopo visit memorable

Make your Limpopo visit memorable

Flight Centre believes that there are numerous reasons Limpopo stands out as a stunning holiday spot. Limpopo sees seven of South Africa’s eleven official languages spoken in this province. The region has a remarkable and ever-increasing number of wildlife and nature reserves, home to the country’s highest population of rhinos and species of antelope, ensuring that there are brilliant game viewing opportunities for visitors to the province.

Limpopo’s weather can have guests expecting dry days and long warm afternoons for most of their stay, so be prepared for the heat, especially during summer!

Some of the main attractions Flight Centre recommends when visiting Limpopo include:

Echo Caves

The caves consist of breath-taking stalactites and stalagmite formations which can be viewed easily from various walkways with electric lights, railings and staircases that have been installed for safety and convenience to all visitors. The spectacular limestone and dripstone structures inside the natural caves make for interesting viewing, which can be seen in chambers throughout the caves as they wind through the mountainside.

Jessica the Hippo in Hoedspruit

Jessica, the famous hippo, ‘lives’ in the river of Hoedspruit and has been raised by her owners, Tonie and Shirley Joubert, as if she was their own child. The Joubert family took care of the animal while her mother was found exhausted at the border of the Kruger National Park. Though Jessica is happy to wander freely, she continuously chooses her favourite spot next to the house. Jessica sleeps in Tony and Shirley’s house, where they cover her with a blanket. In recent years Jessica received a lot of media attention and more than 90 films and documentaries have been made about her. The public are able to visit Jessica at her house in Hoedspruit and also have the rare opportunity to stroke her nose and feed her.

Kruger National Park

The very popular Kruger National Park, is situated in north-eastern South Africa and is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Its high density of wild animals includes the Big 5, namely, lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos. Hundreds of other mammals make their home here. Mountains and bush plains are all part of the landscape here and it’s a game reserve that should be visited at least once in a lifetime.

Adventures with Elephants (Bela Bela)

Adventures with Elephants offers various types of interactions, specifically, Educational Interactions, Safaris, Swims & Tailor-Made Activities. When it comes to wine, especially rosé, there are loads of guys who won’t touch it.
