Décor & Gardening
That’s a wrap!
They came, they saw, they housed, they gardened! This year’s ECR House & Garden Show exceeded all expectations – and economic indicators, enjoying a whopping 7.5% year-on-year growth. Now in its 37th year, the exhibition achieved this remarkable feat despite a show stopping power failure and another that delayed trading.
This year’s show saw more than 480 exhibitors (an increase of 180 on 2016) filling up the entire Durban Exhibition Centre, alongside a larger Homegrown Design Fair, the new dedicated Foodie Fair, and 10 days of the KZN Travel & Adventure Show (which ran for only a weekend last year) sponsored by Tourism KZN.
Visitors were wowed by features like The Apartment – a small-space living display nestled in an up-cycled 12metre shipping container; the H+G Makers Space – offering creative activities for all ages; The Golden Delight Chefs Theatre – a host of celebrity chefs cooked up a storm, the KAPOW Designer Café presented by Dulux – where KZN’s top interior designers and decorators collaborated to create a mix of trend-focused room settings; and the Uber Haus – a fully automated home comprising a lounge, dining room and open-plan kitchen.
One very lucky visitor won a R100 000 bathroom makeover from Classic Luxury Tiles & Bathrooms.
Aside from generating entertainment and happiness for thousands of visitors, the event is estimated to have generated over R100-million in business to the province.
The ECR House & Garden Show will return on 30 June – 8 July 2018.
