Affordable cooking for South Africans

Affordable cooking for South Africans

The price of food continues to escalate. Shoppers are becoming frustrated with having to buy less and pay more. You hear more and more South Africans complain about having had to pay hundreds of rands for groceries that only full a bag or two. Stuffed Feeling, a Durban based food blog, created by Megan Deane, has recently launched its first recipe ebook; Affordable Everyday Cooking. Using readily available ingredients, this recipe ebook provides practical and easy recipes for families to use and adapt to their specific palettes.

“Understanding that ingredients vary from shop to shop; I wanted to make this book affordable for everyday home cooks. It was also my mission to ensure the portions were realistic for families, like mine, that have a healthy appetite,” shares Megan Deane.

“I tried to keep the recipes under R70, some are as low as R15. The recipe ebook has a range of recipes from vegetarian, seafood, chicken, pork, beef and desserts. There is something for everyone,” says Megan.

Stuffed Feeling has been going for over 5 years, and started with the aim to share family recipes and easy original recipes. It has gone from strength to strength, and has recently undergone its own mini makeover; as it hopes to hone in on family food moments by sharing everyday recipes, desserts you need to save space for, Sunday lunches, feasts with a crowd and providing helpful tips.
