Coricraft showcases five trends with new accessory collection

The beautiful new collection of accessories from Coricraft showcase five leading interiors trends. Inspired by nature particularly the elements of Earth and Fire − the range includes velvet scatters, faux fur throws (perfect for the colder months) and a variety of mixed material décor items that will bring warmth, tactility and luxury into your home.

Gabi Da Silva, Accessories Buyer at Coricraft, explains how best to showcase these trends in your home. “Velvet is a must this season, as it adds sophistication with its deep tones and rich textures. Black is the new black; it is bold, daring and stylish and having black accents throughout a room allows you to go ‘back to basics’, simultaneously adding contrast and making a statement. A mixture of Metallics and playing up different textures, also helps to create visual interest.”

Hygge (pronounced “HOO-gah”) is a Scandinavian way of life that celebrates coziness, shared meals, interactions with loved ones and is centred around family and home. “An easy way to create this ‘Hygge feeling’ in the home is by using knits, textures, furs, candles and chunky wooden items,” explains Gabi. As a beautiful contrast, Greenery is the colour of the year. It is fresh and lively and all that’s needed to bring this trend into your home is to display greenery in a beautiful vase and botanical prints on scatters.

“When it comes to accessories, a monochromatic colour scheme allows other elements in your space to ‘create the story’: things like the texture and choice of fabrics all become the narrator of the look you want to achieve,” believes Gabi. This means that having a variety of materials together is important and the key to making this work is to keep the tones similar. Concludes Gabi: “If you want to create a warm and inviting room, stick to warm tones by adding chunky wooden objects, along with accents of copper and gold coloured metals.”

Buon appetito!

With nothing but a suitcase full of dreams and her faithful friend ‘the cello’, Cecilia Di Cecco left Italy to work as a musician with the KZNPO in Durban. Here she learnt to cultivate her music and at the same time began a love affair with food that eventually led to the recent launch of her first cookbook, Cucina in South Africa.
