The Living Art Campaign

Friday the 13th November was the official launch of The Living Art Campaign, an initiative with the aim to help African artists earn a living from their artwork. The event was an African art auction fundraiser (with the emphasis on the ‘fun’) we auctioned off various pieces of artwork for local underprivileged and underexposed artists

The event was an absolute success. About 80 bidders packed the club house of Augusta Estate in Hillcrest and we managed to auction off just over R 40 000 worth of artwork as well as raise over R 3000 in our raffle. Needless to say the artists –who attended the event, were thrilled as it was the first bit of exposure many of them had ever received.

“The Living Art Campaign would like to thank those who came out to support the event, Distell and Caresse Marine who sponsored the wine for our guests, Simply Tipped Nail Salon for contributing towards eats and finally to Panda Paints who kindly donated a painting hamper to the artists.  We would also like to thank Sue, Penny, Jeremy Van Willingh, Pinto’s, Papa Giovanni’s, Simply Tipped and  Cyber Support  for their contribution towards our raffle.”

The funds raised will assist the Living Art Campaign in expanding the number of artists it is able to support and help provide them with the tools and exposure they need to establish themselves and become economically viable. The Living Art Campaign is an ENZA initiative, ENZA is a South African registered non-profit organization. Registration number: 127-404 NPO.

Buon appetito!

With nothing but a suitcase full of dreams and her faithful friend ‘the cello’, Cecilia Di Cecco left Italy to work as a musician with the KZNPO in Durban. Here she learnt to cultivate her music and at the same time began a love affair with food that eventually led to the recent launch of her first cookbook, Cucina in South Africa.
