Wakaberry rolls out new and improved recipe

Wakaberry, the market leader in self-serve soft serve frozen yoghurt, has announced the introduction of a new and improved yoghurt recipe. The new recipe will be available in all stores from 1 May.

“We have always prided ourselves on our 100% real yoghurt,” says Michele Fourie, Wakaberry’s co-founder and Managing Executive. “We are pleased to introduce a new recipe which will take our usual offering of real yoghurt to the next level. The new yoghurt is even lower in fat and carbohydrates and higher in calcium and protein, making it the perfect alternative to other frozen desserts when compared to foods high in fat and sugar. And, of course, it’s delicious.”

The national standard for frozen yoghurt is fairly vague and therefore there are many ways in which local froyo brands are making and marketing their products. The essential difference between real yoghurt, and the products that are made with a dehydrated yoghurt base, is that real yoghurt undergoes a natural fermentation process. In the production of genuine yoghurt, real, low fatmilk is used and traditionally fermented with two live cultures: Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilis. This fermentation process produces lactic acid bacteria (which gives real yoghurt its tart taste) and high levels of live and active cultures.

Says Fourie: “Wakaberry is virtually fat free, contains natural live and active cultures (up to 10 million per gram of yoghurt), is high in calcium and is made from locally sourced dairies. As one of the only froyo brands offering real yoghurt made the natural way, we continue to provide our Wakafans with only the freshest, authentic yoghurt.”

Wakafans are encouraged to do their own taste test and share their opinions on the new recipe at One lucky fan could win a REAL experience weekend worth R10 000.

Bespoke baby gear, designed with the supermom in mind!

When it comes to baby brands, there are so many great companies out there producing some incredible stuff. On an international level, we are of course envious of some of the adventurous, fun and fabulous products on the market (not all of which we can always get our hands on), so we simply cannot contain ourselves when every now and again we stumble across some equally great brands produced on our very own doorstep…

50 Shades of Pink

When it comes to wine, especially rosé, there are loads of guys who won’t touch it. Maybe it’s because they prefer a beer or a more refined spirit; maybe it’s because it comes in a stemmed glass, who knows?. What we can say though, based on the confessions of our local wine fundi, Jan-Nico Coetzee, is that even the tough guys have a palate for rose, and thanks to the bottled beauties listed below, we now know just why.
